DIE PUPPE

A kaleidoscope of images taken from the work of Hans Bellmer, filtered through the artistic experiences and aesthetics of the performers, who have been studying his work and life for years. Referring directly to both artists' work, it is also a specific study of female physicality and sexuality.

DIE PUPPE has an open performative form. It has been presented both in intimate galleries and large theatre halls. Each subsequent presentation is a new "sketch" developing elements appearing in the cycle. The stage becomes the artist's studio, and the performative action becomes a process/session during which artefacts are created.

The first "sketch" of DIE PUPPE took place in Katowice in 2010, in the legendary Piastowska 1 studio of Andrzej Urbanowicz - one of the most important propagators of Bellmer's work in Poland. Since then, the performance has been presented many times in Europe, in New York and Tokyo.
