Poland based artist collective founded by Piotr Wegrzynski (visual artist, performer) in 1995, joined by Sylvia Lajbig (classical philologist, performer) in 2003. Over the course of three decades, they have become the most versatile and internationally recognizable artistic group from their region.
They work on the border of performing arts and video art, combining in a unique way visual theater, body art mixed with industrial substances and analog audiovisual techniques. Through their choice of subject matter and means of expression, they often refer to the French Grand Guignol.
The group's works have been shown in most European countries, North and South America, China and Japan (including Art Basel, Venice International Performance Art Week, Vanilla Gallery) and are also in private collections and galleries in Europe, USA and Japan.
Searching for alternative and radical forms of communication, based on the connection of living body matter, industrial substances and electronic devices, the creators explore the human body in all its aspects, with a strong emphasis on sexuality as the main drive of this biomachine. At the same time, they attempt to redefine the concept of gender by blurring individual characteristics and codes culturally assigned to man and woman.
